Dear Stephanie,
World ARC 2008 – Visit to Tahiti
Following the success of our World Cruising Club’s previous round the world rallies, including the first ever such rally Europa’92, World Cruising Club has launched a new round the world event to be known as World ARC. This new event will build on the success of previous events, following the format of our popular annual Atlantic Rally for Cruisers in which 225 yacht sail each November from the Canary Islands to St Lucia.
World ARC will start from St Lucia in January 2008, and after a transit of the Panama Canal will cross the Pacific to Australia following the traditional trade wind route. As with previous events the plan is to make land fall in the Marquesas and for the yachts to then cruise to Tahiti, where there will be a rendezvous on 30 April 2008, before cruising the Society Islands to Bora Bora.
The event is currently full with 45 yachts from 11 different countries, making it the largest rally to circumnavigate. Plans are already being made for a second World ARC starting in January 2010.
(...) Yours sincerely,
Andrew Bishop"
